Regina is in south central Saskatchewan, Canada. Regina's population is ethnically and culturally diverse, with immigrants from the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States.

Regina's economy is dependent on agriculture, oil and gas production. Three potash mines, four sodium sulphate operations, salt, sand and gravel deposits used primarily in construction and a sodium bentonite plant are all located near Regina.

The LINC program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This ESL program provides quality, settlement-based English language training to adult refugees and immigrants to help them adapt to life in Regina and use English in their everyday activities.

You are eligible for the LINC program if you: Are a Permanent Resident of Canada, Protected Person or Refugee; Are eighteen (18) years or older; Have been assessed at any level from Literacy to CLB 4 on the Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLBPT).

The University of Regina welcomes approximately 3,000 international students from nearly 100 countries to the main campus in Regina, Saskatchewan. The University of Regina has a large number of departments within nine main faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Education, Kinesiology and Health Studies, Science, Social Work, Administration, Arts and Graduate Studies.

English language requirements for admission have to be verified here are some examples:

Successful completion of the English as a Second Language (ESL 050) program or a minimum average score of 55 on the ESL placement exam both offered through the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Regina.

Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), also known as C1 Advanced, formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced with an overall minimum score of 180 and a minimum score of 169 in each skill (Reading, Use of English, Writing, Listening, and Speaking).

Internationally Recognized Standards (GCSE/IGCSE/GCE, GCE A/AS/AICE) GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O' Level English, English Language, or English as a Second Language with a minimum grade of '6' (grade of B prior to 2017) or GCE A/AS/AICE Level English or English Language with a minimum grade of 'C'.

Advanced Placement English (grade of 3 or better) or International Baccalaureate Higher English (grade of 4 or better).

IELTS A 6.5; PTE A 59; CAEL 60; MELAB 85; CELT 60; Duolingo 110.

The University of Regina ESL English as a Second Language Academic Program can begin from home at times to suit your schedule. Remote, non-credit ESL courses can be taken online. Core ESL classes integrate all language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing, through a theme-based curriculum. Skill ESL classes focus on specific language skills. The ESL program offers: 13 weeks of classes per term; 3 terms per year; 252 hours of instruction per term.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic

Saskatchewan Polytechnic welcomes international students to learn in Saskatchewan, provides opportunities for student exchanges and delivers industry-training programs abroad. As a polytechnic, we offer a comprehensive suite of programming, including certificates, diplomas and degrees. Many programs have strong articulation agreements with universities across Canada, with grads often receiving two years of credit towards a degree. Saskatchewan Polytechnic engages in applied research, drawing on faculty expertise to support innovation by employers, and providing students the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills.

English is the language of instruction and examination at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. If your first or primary language is not English, and/or your country is not exempt, you will need to provide evidence of having the English language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing necessary to be successful in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic program to which you are applying.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic is accepting a minimum overall score of 105 on the online Duolingo English Test as the equivalent to the minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, for most programs. Program-specific ELP requirements still apply. You’re automatically considered for the ESL program English for Academic Purposes (EAP) when you apply for a Sask Polytech post-secondary program if your score is less than 6.5 on the IELTS test (or equivalent). This opportunity is exclusively for international students who are applying for a First Qualified First Admitted (FQFA) Sask Polytech post-secondary program. You must meet all the admission requirements except for the English Language Requirement.
