Located on the Petitcodiac River, Moncton lies at the geographic centre of the Maritime Provinces and earned the nickname "Hub City". Moncton was officially founded in 1766 and was named for Lt. Col. Robert Monckton, the British officer who had captured nearby Fort Beauséjour a century earlier. Moncton had two past industries, shipbuilding and the CNR Railway locomotive shops. Moncton is the most populous city in New Brunswick, in 2021 the city had a population of 79,470.

The Minister shall provide free school privileges under the Education Act for every person who is of school age and who has not graduated from high school, and is a resident of the Province. If a student does not fall into these categories, then international student fees apply. International students are required to pay a tuition fee in order to attend a New Brunswick public school.
