Toronto Metropolitan University

The Pre-ESL Foundation Program is 8 weeks including 20 hours of class per week of blended learning in both in-person and virtual formats. The Toronto Metropolitan University Real Institute ESL Foundation Program teaches in-depth English proficiency in writing, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The TMU instructors will inspire you to participate in 20-25 hours of classroom activity in a supportive environment with small class sizes. Transition into your undergraduate program with up to 3 credits earned toward your degree. The Toronto Metropolitan University English language proficiency requirements for admission is IELTS 5.0 or Duolingo 80-89 or TOEFL iBT 64-68.

York University

For admission to most programs at York University, applicants required to submit proof of language proficiency, can choose from the York University approved English or French language tests listed below: TOEFL iBT: 83; IELTS*(Academic Module) 6.5; Pearson PTE Academic 60; (CAEL) 60; (CAE, CPE) C1 Advanced; Duolingo 115.

Pathway to Admission: Students with unsuccessful English language test results can boost their proficiency and still obtain admission to York by completing a program at the York University English Language Institute (YUELI). YUELI provides the highest quality English language instruction, serving over 2,000 students from more than 50 different countries every year. University of Toronto currently has 5 Courses in ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES. 0150 Academic English will provide you with the opportunity to meet the language facility requirement and help you build the confidence you need to excel in an academic environment. In the program, you will strengthen your skills in academic reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Academic English Level 60 for Conditional Acceptance is for learners who have received a conditional offer of admission to an undergraduate or graduate (Master’s or PhD) program at the University of Toronto. The Academic English Online Program takes a theme-based integrated skills approach with attention to and development of all four skill areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

The Seneca English Language Institute (ELI) offers a premium English as Second language (ESL) program for international students. The ELI is recognized for its expert faculty, quality programming and flexible study options. As an ELI student, you are also a Seneca student and have the opportunity to integrate into the Seneca community right away. You will have access to Seneca’s state-of-the-art campuses and extensive supports and services such as libraries, computing centres, counselling, tutoring, career services, gyms and fitness centres, residences and more.

Centennial

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program is an intensive, full-time academic English program that will help you build on and improve your language skills for success in college or university. English for Academic Purposes will offer you the opportunity to study English in a supportive college environment while you develop effective academic communication skills by focusing on the key areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking. You'll have the opportunity to participate in communicative language activities, interactive exercises, group work and presentations. Through this program, you'll also have access to helpful resources and services such as tutoring, the library and counselling.

Humber

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program - Study English with the Centre for Education, Language & Professional Practice at the Humber Lakeshore Campus. The eight-week curriculum is designed for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their communication skills for entry to college or university. The EAP program features: small classes; twenty-two hours per week; eight levels of study; with six intakes: September, October, January, March, May and July.
