School is compulsory for all children from 6 to 16 years of age. Some 110,000 students made their way back to classrooms in Quebec's 340 English public schools. The education system in Montreal consists of four levels of instruction offered in English and in French: primary, which includes preschool, secondary, college and university. The school year begins at the beginning of September and usually ends on June 24 for primary and secondary school and in the month of May for college and university students. Public education from preschool to college is free for Quebec residents and for the children of foreign workers with temporary work permits.

Up to a maximum of 12 credits of ESL courses, including academic writing courses for non-anglophones, are open if your primary language is not English and you have studied for fewer than five (5) years in an English-language secondary institution. Placement tests are required for admission to most undergraduate courses. The purpose of the test is to ensure that you take the course that is most appropriate for you and from which you can get the most benefit. There is no need to study for the test and no reason to misrepresent your ability.

Language Schools

There are a number of private English language schools with "ESL" English as a second language programs and classes. Our company ESL in Canada has placed some international students into Montreal ESL schools and they were very pleased with the school classes and activities programs. Students did need a mixture of English and French to perform all tasks equally within the city.

Alberta Legislature Building

Surrounded by 57 acres of parkland, this beautiful building is a must see for those interested in architecture, politics and history. Completed in 1912 on the site of the original Fort Edmonton, the building features an interpretive centre and gift shop. Free admission and guided tours.

Chinatown & Avenue of Nations

Citadel Theatre

Edmonton Art Gallery

Francis Winspear Centre

Jubilee Auditorium

Commissioned by the Alberta government in 1955 to celebrate the province's 50th anniversary, this 2,700 seat auditorium located near the University of Alberta is home to the Edmonton Opera and Alberta Ballet.

Northlands Park

Facilities include The Spectrum (Horse Racing and Gaming), AgriCom, Sportex, Golden Garter and Silver Slipper. Northlands Park produces many annual special events including Edmonton's Klondike Days, Farmfair International, and the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Odyssium

Edmonton's space and science centre has four new galleries; the human body in the Body Fantastic, mystery in Mystery Avenue, Mother Nature in The Green's House and explore space in Space Place. Valley Zoo

Located on the west side of the city, next to Laurier Park, the Valley Zoo is home to over 400 animals including about 20 endangered species. West Edmonton Mall

The largest shopping shopping and entertainment centre in the world, West Edmonton Mall features over 800 stores and services and more than 110 restaurants and eateries. If you visit the area you can expect to visit picturesque Vineyards and wineries where you'll have the opportunity to taste a variety of wines any anything from reasing and Chardonnay to red wines and the famous ice wine.  I highly recommend taking a scenic drive out to the area or you can also book one of the many Wine Tours available most of the wineries offer tasting flights where you can choose three or four wines and sip them at your leisure.

Niagara Falls was first incorporated in 1904 and was organized into a new Region in 1970 and is now part of the Regional Municipality of Niagara.

Niagara Falls overlooks the 54 M (177 ft) high Horseshoe, or Canadian falls. In 1905 large-scale hydroelectric plants began operations. Sir Adam Beck No. 1 opened in 1921, has a production capacity of 498 MW and Sir Adam Beck No. 2 opened in 1954, has a production capacity of 1440 MW.

In 1885 the Ontario provincial government established the Niagara Parks Commission. The orderly, landscaped quality of Queen Victoria Park gradually extended steadily along the Niagara river to the south to Fort Erie by 1915 and north to Niagara on the lake by 1931.

The Niagara Region contains several attractions which include Queen Victoria Park, Table Rock Scenic Tunnels, Spanish Aero Car, the annual Winter Festival of Lights; the historical museum at Lundy's Lane, the Maid of the Mist, Marineland, Skylon Tower, Minolta Tower, IMAX Theatre, the Butterfly Conservatory, the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, Canada One Factory Outlets, Casino Niagara and Fallsview, the Clifton Hill Attractions and several world class golf courses.

The District School Board of Niagara is a school board in the public school system of Ontario, Canada, in the Regional Municipality of Niagara. Its head office is in St. Catharines. The DSBN operates schools in each of the twelve municipalities in the region.

The English as Second Language (ESL) program is a temporary support program for students in grades 1 to 8 whose first language is not English. Students in the ESL program are working towards the same Ontario curriculum expectations as other students. Universities

Brock University is a public research university in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, at the centre of Canada's Niagara Peninsula on the Niagara Escarpment. Brock offers the Intensive English Language Program (IELP). Students who meet undergraduate admission requirements but don’t meet Brock's English language proficiency requirements can apply to the IELP/undergraduate program. Students must submit an official English proficiency test score, such as TOEFL, IELTS, etc., with your application. Once at Brock, students will write the Brock CamLA placement test. Both tests will be reviewed and students will be placed in the IELP level that reflects the higher of the two test scores. Levels range from preparatory to advanced Level 5. Each level or term is 12 weeks long with 25 hours of instruction per week.
